MarchFourth is a joy-inducing force of entertainment. The colorful explosion of brassy funk, rock, and jazz is all about the groove. This larger-than-life group of musicians and acrobats tours the country year-round, bringing a spirit of celebration wherever they go. MarchFourth is, in a word, FUN!

Fifteen MarchFourth musicians traveled from Portland, Oregon to New Orleans, Louisiana to record their fourth studio album, MAGIC NUMBER, self-released in September 2016. With Producer Ben Ellman (Galactic) and Engineer/Producer Mikael “Count” Eldridge (DJ Shadow, Tycho, Trombone Shorty) at the helm, the album is full of the captivating grooves and brassy swagger you’d expect from MarchFourth, plus a healthy dose of New Orleans magic, with guest appearance by Trombone Shorty, Stanton Moore (drums), and Matt Perrine (sousaphone). The album was fan-funded through Kickstarter.

“Perfectly merging the artistic spirit of Portland with the musical spectacle of New Orleans, MarchFourth put on one of the most complete shows of any band on any stage. From rocking big band jam tunes, choreography and feats of strength that need to be seen to be believed, MarchFourth entertains on every level every second they are on the stage…or off!” ~Live for Live Music

“From the first note to the last, the sound was pumping and the fun never stopped… It’s worth noting that there are serious musicians behind all the fun. It’s obvious these guys (and gals) have had lots of training and formal practice. Talented band geeks turned rebels.” ~USAToday

“Just when you think you’ve heard it all, suddenly a band crosses paths with your ears and changes everything… Full of auditory goodness…” ~NYS Music

“Mighty, Explosive, Carnivalesque Brass Band Funk” ~New York Music Daily

Psymbionic with Thelem and more at The Aquarium

$10 advance // $15 doors

Cresting the modern wave of electronic producers, Psymbionic creates aural experiences that explore the range of multi-tempo bass music within an influential and dynamic culture. With an ear for situational relevance, Psymbionic enjoys turning non-traditional sound design and infectious rhythms into dance floor heat, while also maintaining his history in the downtempo, emotive side of the electronic sound. John Burcham has been moving bodies and turning heads as Psymbionic for several years in all corners of the USA,playing with acts such as Bassnectar, STS9, Big Gigantic, ill. Gates, Excision, EOTO, and Tipper. His passion and innovation in the music world are showcased through album releases on Muti Music and Mal Label, as well as in his role as label manager for the popular Electronic imprint Gravitas Recordings. In a live show context, Psymbionic confronts mixes that are limited to the scope of the build and release, avoiding an industry epidemic of drop-monotony that overpowers the flow of music. Burcham seeks to prove that there are more powerful influences in moving a crowd than simple tension, providing an interwoven dynamic that relies on the strength of his blend, rather than the sole force or familiarity of the apex. Psymbionic’s theory of music is a journey that doesn’t visit the same place twice, building excitement for what’s next not because you can anticipate it, but because you’ve never been there before.

Lev Snowe / Disappear Forever / Electric Blankets / Plumslugger

Doors 8 p.m. / Show 8:30 p.m.
$7 cover / 21+

Winnipeg’s Lev Snowe is again blessing Fargo with their washed-out, jangly, psychedelic dream-pop goodness!

“Lev Snowe makes a synth-heavy brand of psychedelic dream-pop that is both washed out and danceable in equal measure. Lush electronics—reminiscent of Boards of Canada and Homeshake—bloom around shimmering guitars and heavy-hitting Mobb Deep-era hip-hop grooves, with Snowe’s reverb-soaked voice drifting nostalgically in and out of focus. As indebted to John Hughes’ filmography as it is to The Smiths’ occasional flirtation with shoegaze, Lev Snowe’s music is the perfect soundtrack for either the dance floor of a house party or meandering alone through the city at night.”

Joining them are:
disappear forever: Gloom-poppy goth rock comin’ back to knock your socks off
The Electric Blankets: You know em’ and you love ’em and you had better because they’re great. Funky, shoegazey, mystery-flavored tunes
plumslugger: Boot-scootin’ lo-fi garage pop
